Credit Where it's Due

I just talked to the credit people. Let's just say they were less than happy with me, and apparently not so eager to deal with me - regardless of how much I pay them. Although I feel bad that this puts me in a bad spot, I don't feel bad at all for them. I'm a little shocked that there was nearly no effort to try to warn me of the impending disaster or of the degree of said disaster.

At any rate, it's possible by week's end I'll have fixed everything. There's a lot to be said for speaking calmly and politely.

Just tell the cc companies that you're flat broke, and don't have a penny to your name. Tell them that either they work with you, or you'll default on the debt.

It's amazing how readily they're willing to work with you once they believe the debt is about to turn bad.

take out a 10k loan in my name! or maybe $10,060, so we can have sushi AND pay off your debt. Or better yet, sell all your Jyhad cards on eBay to some dorkers.

YAY! My favorite uncle arrives!

I would use cash, but these eDays nobody does anything unless it's over a wire. In this case, they expect me to transfer thousands of dollars from my checking account into the (now-invalid) credit account. Easier done than said, actually.

Absolutely -- speak calmly, be polite, and use cash when possible (it seems more like real money).

Yeah man, credit's a bitch. Don't despair, however. I was in a pretty deep hole not 6 months ago, and I'm basically debt free by this point. Hell, I just bought a car.
